H 40-50’ W 30-35’ Pyramidal becoming a broad oval form with age. Highly resistant to bronze birch borer. Yellow fall colour. Whitish salmon brown bark exfoliates, becoming mottled and interesting with age. Bark is lighter colour than the straight species. Tolerates wet, poorly drained soils, performs well in dry soils. Intolerant of high pH.
